Recent sunny days were kicked off by Plum’s (a Gloucestershire Old Spots) litter of five piglets! We corralled the adolescents into the garden for tilling. Later that evening we revisited the new mother and discovered there were only four. After an hour of searching, Plum moved aside and started gnashing on something in the straw. It was a piglet. We found two more, previously unseen- for a total of three lost piglets.
These pigs are currently listed as critical according to the American Livestock Breed Conservancy.
